Function
Serine/threonine-protein kinase that plays a centralrole in centriole duplication. Able to trigger procentrioleformation on the surface of the mother centriole cylinder, usingmother centriole as a platform, leading to the recruitment ofcentriole biogenesis proteins such as sas-6. When overexpressed,it is able to induce centrosome amplification through thesimultaneous generation of multiple procentrioles adjoining eachparental centriole during S phase. Centrosome amplificationfollowing overexpression can initiate tumorigenesis, highlightingthe importance of centrosome regulation in cancers.
